From where you get your sense of Self-Worth!
So much of our difficulties can be solved with a sense of SELF-WORTH - from taking care of oneself by building good habits to how we are in relationships with people and society to how much confidence we have in our workplace.
think about your biggest difficulty.... how many of them could be resolved if you have unshakable confidence and belief in your self-worth? if you feel whole, complete, and incredibly self-worthy?
you could create and put your creation out into the world and market it to others, you could open a new business or start a new organization or send cold emails for the job you want or could feel secure in your body, you could speak confidently in public express your ideas there, fight for the things you care about, set boundaries, work for the life you want, express your need and take care of yourself and stand for yourself.
All this comes from a strong sense of self-worth.
But, from an early age, we are taught that your value is determined externally from:-
- the marks you secure in exams, and from the position you hold in class.
- praises and validation from others and elders.
- medals, trophies, rewards, and awards you possess.
- perfect job, nice house, nice car, good paycheck.
- nice and expensive clothing that makes us look attractive and cool.
- having a kind of body figure, your skin color, height, weight.
- romantic partner and friends you have.
- social media- likes, followers, and comments.
and so on. The problem with this kind of validation-based self-worth is that it is fleeting, sometimes we get it and feel good about ourselves, and many times we don't get it and feel empty, discouraged, ignored, and miserable. Nevertheless, we will look for it again from any other person or location because this is what we have learned and all we know to feel better. In this chaos, we have lost ourselves.
So, what can we do?
Well, we can seek to find our self-worth from within!
This can be a lifelong exploration, but some ways can help, like:-
- notice the good in your heart.
- feel the love and compassion within but don't forget to share it with others too.
- be curious for yourself and for life.
- try to find your determination and commitment and follow it with a full heart.
- see if you can locate the joy, solace, and amazement that suit you.
- spend time with yourself and care about your feelings and emotions.
- meditate, reflect, journal periodically find some quiet time for yourself, and seek stillness.
- make a daily routine, and find joy in doing mundane tasks.
- find wonder where you are.
- feel curious about life and its journey.
- avoid comparison, criticism, and complaints.
- respect your decision, and stand by it.
- look for spiritual guidance.
- review your value system add and subtract accordingly, and allow changes to happen.
